Artist's Description
Ice wine is produced from grapes that have been frozen while still on the vine. Producing ice wine is risky because the frost may not come at all before the grapes rot or are lost. It also requires many grape pickers to pick the entire crop within a few hours, at a moment's notice, on the morning when it's cold enough. Therefore there are relatively small amounts of ice wine being produced world-wide as it can be expensive.
Ice wine production is limited to the wine-growing regions of the world where cold temperatures can be reached with some regularity. Canada and Germany are the world's largest producers of ice wine with 75% of Candian ice wine coming from Ontario.
About Pennie McCracken
Welcome to Endless Skys. I was born and raised in England but I emigrated to Canada over 30 years ago and currently reside in the London, Ontario region. In April 2013, I finally quit the corporate world to focus on my creative side and to learn more about myself through words and pictures. I honestly had no idea if I had a creative bone in my body, but I knew it was time for change. Since then I have simply let my life unfold, going with the flow of wherever my new journey is taking me...one day at a time. I am completely self-taught in all aspects of the art world, from learning to navigate my way around a camera, to the on-going pursuit of developing my skills with all kinds of digital software. I am a professional Digital Artist...
