Artist's Description

Skipton castle in North Yorkshire is one of Britain's most preserved medieval castles, maintaining its look today thanks to the repairs done in 1659 by Lady Ann Clifford. It was built in 1090 as an earth and wood, motte and bailey structure but eventually, as a defence against scottish invasions, it was re-built as a formidable stronghold in stone.

Today it is a very popular tourist attraction, but the new wing that was built In 1536, for the wife of Henry Clifford (niece of Henry VIII), Lady Eleanor, is now a luxurious private residence.

Here you can see the Conduit Courtyard, which gets its name from the water supply that was piped into the castle, which terminated in the courtyard.

About Pennie McCracken

Pennie McCracken

Welcome to Endless Skys. I was born and raised in England but I emigrated to Canada over 30 years ago and currently reside in the London, Ontario region. In April 2013, I finally quit the corporate world to focus on my creative side and to learn more about myself through words and pictures. I honestly had no idea if I had a creative bone in my body, but I knew it was time for change. Since then I have simply let my life unfold, going with the flow of wherever my new journey is taking me...one day at a time. I am completely self-taught in all aspects of the art world, from learning to navigate my way around a camera, to the on-going pursuit of developing my skills with all kinds of digital software. I am a professional Digital Artist...
