Even though they have short life-spans compared to humans, polar bears are considered long-lived animals. In the wild, polar bears live an average 15 to 18 years, but biologists have tagged some bears believed to be in their 30s. In captivity, polar bears can live until their mid to late 30s. A bear in captivity in Canada, Debby, lived to be 42.
