Description
The oceans of the world contain over 1,000 different species of sea anemones. The largest sea anemones are usually found in tropical coastal waters. They come in just about any color, and they can range in size from a half-inch to more than six feet in diameter and can live up to 50 years or more.
They mostly live attached to rocks on the ocean floor or coral reefs and their bodies are hollow with a mouth and stinging tentacles used to catch small prey.
My painting is based on an PD 1899 Ernst Haeckel poster.
